I’m a huge fan of this author’s contemporary romances as Jessica Clare and knew I’d love this new, paranormal book release by her, Between a Vamp and a Hard Place, as Jessica Sims! This is my first read of this pen name/ author's books and I do love the genre and a good vampire story. I look forward to reading more of her books!

I was so right. I loved this story! Jessica really draws you into a complete story and you can’t predict how it is going to go, I love that. Gemma and Lindsey were all each other had. They were bff's all their lives and became treasure hunters, finding antiques and reselling them and barely making it. I love the adventure that they would go on because Gemma invested their whole nest egg in hopes of finding valuables. Well, they found much, much more than that. They found Rand! I LOVED this ancient, swoony hero! I loved the relationship that formed between him and Lindsey. The details kept me turning pages and I found this to be a light, funny, yet serious story of survival with perfect action/ suspense, an epic ending and grand epilogue.

You don’t want to miss this handsome Alpha warlord, his plundering ways and how he gets so utterly smitten with his delicious, rare-blooded love, Lindsey. He said he’d never find a woman like her again in a thousand years. I’m so thankful he was staked for six hundred years so he could be found by her.

I am reading it now- I could not put it down. It is funny, romantic and exciting.
I loved this book and both the MC's where believable and Rand is definitely one of my new book boyfriends.. The only thing that I kinda rolled my eyes on was who the big bad was, I thought it was a little overdone but overall a great read - would recommend
Paranormal romance stretches your credulity to begin with (I'm still a big fan), but I found this one particularly difficult. Our heroine wakes up a vampire, he snacks immediately to the point where she passes out, but when she wakes she barely bats an eyelid? He's a crusader, staked centuries ago and he adjusts to a non-feudal time (no serfs, women are people not belongings etc) in 2 pages? I could go on, but shan't.
I quite like Jessica Sims, but have to say this is not one of her better books, the reactions of people don't feel at all realistic to me.
Another Fantastic story by Jessica. Love all the books she writes with all her different pin names. This story had a few surprises in it and the ending left nothing open. My only wish was that the book didn't end. Can't wait until the next one comes out.
This was an enjoyable read as we followed the adventures of two crazy women who end up purchasing more than they bargained for in the form of one thirsty vampire and a trip to Italy. It is a sweet love story with plenty of twists and turns until the happy ever after..

I enjoy this author and this novel; it was was fun and well-written.
This is a good story but has some inconsistencies that I struggled with mostly Rand. Rand is initially very chauvinistic and controlling. However this changes rapidly after he mind rapes our heroine. It just didn't ring true to me. The ending also felt rushed. However the biggest plot inconsistency (spoiler alter) is the fact that if dragon could control Rand in his sleep it made no sense that he needed to go to the trouble of getting someone else to kill him.
I thought that the book started slowly, unsure when Lindsay would meet the hero, and when she meets Rand, it's a little horrifying. Lindsay is an overthinker and she likes to be in control, but when she meets Rand, she throws everything to the wind and decides to help him, for reasons I don't quite understand. I didn't really like Rand when he was introduced, but by the end, I liked him but I felt there were holes in his past and no real explanation for the real reason behind his attraction to Lindsay.

Gemma, Lindsay's best friend, is hilarious, but she jumped in an out of the story too infrequently. Lindsay is strong and capable, yet her actions contradicts her thoughts and she finds herself searching for vampires, when she isn't too sure about the vampire she is helping.

I liked the book, but the other Jessica Sims books are funny and the relationships are stronger than I feel Lindsay and Rand's was. I think that Lindsay was so unsure about how she felt about Rand, despite how he made her feel when he drank from her or how he looked to her, that the end came quickly and without much satisfaction.
